Utku joined the firm in January 2024.
Since then, he has been involved in undertaking casualty surveys of all kinds, with a focus on main / auxiliary engines and machinery/propulsion systems failures, though including risk /condition / warranty surveys of varying types acting for H&M Underwriters, as well as Loss Prevention surveys for P&I Clubs.
Until joining our Istanbul office surveyors’ team, Utku had completed a 4-year term as oceangoing engineer on board Suezmax Crude Oil Tankers, reaching the 2nd Engineer rank. During his seagoing service, he has attained an in-depth knowledge on tanker operations, on board maintenance and troubleshooting of main/auxiliary engines and machinery, as well as crude oil cargo operations. He also actively participated in vetting and drydocking inspections held during his service on board.
He is fluent in English.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERTISE:
- Technical Superintendent, Oras Shipping (2 years)
- Oceangoing Engineer – up to the rank of 2nd Engineer, Gungen Maritime (4 years)
- Certified Operator for Ultrasonic tightness testing
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- BSc in Marine Engineering from Piri Reis University, Istanbul, Turkey
- Diploma in Marine Surveying, Lloyds Maritime Academy, North Kent University
