Xiaoyu has joined our Shanghai office team in 2025 as a Senior Surveyor.
After completing his Studies in Dalian Maritime University in 2007, from which he graduated with a BA in Marine Engineering and a combined MA in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, he initially joined DNV for 5 years as a Class Surveyor in New Buildings and QC of the NB processes, followed by a 3-year service in Wartsila China, as a technical support manager on shipboard propulsion 2- stroke engines installations and testing.
He subsequently joined ABS Classification or 8 years attaining a Senior Surveyor status, both for New Buildings and Ships-in-Service of all types of vessels, including oil/chemical tankers, container ships and bulk carriers.
Thereafter and for 3 years he explored a change in his carrier as a Superintendent and Project Engineer for ship management/ technical consultancy companies, having the opportunity to attain knowledge in the fleet ships repairs and shipyards tariffs, as well as oversee an FPSO construction project.
He then briefly switched back to his Senior Class Surveyor role with LRS class for 2 years, before joining our Shanghai office team in early 2025 as a Senior Surveyor.
Since joining, he has been attending both Casualty and Warranty/Risk Assessment Surveys, as well as P&I Condition Surveys, possessing an all-round knowledge and experience of both marine surveying work and ship repairs practices/tariffs in China.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA in Marine Engineering / MA in Naval Architecture- Dalian Maritime University.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERTISE:
- DNV – Class Surveyor (NB’s / QC): 2007-2011 (5 years)
- Wartsila China LTD – Technical Support on shipboard 2- stroke propulsion engines installations: 2012-2014 (3 years)
- ABS – Senior Class Surveyor (NB’s and Ships-in-Service): 2014-2021 (8 years)
- Ship / Project Management Co’s- Superintendent Engineer: 2021-2023 (3 years)
- LRS – Senior Surveyor (Ships-in-Service): 2024 –(1 year)
