Jose Carlos has joined our firm as of 1st quarter of 2025 in our Gibraltar office as a senior surveyor, having been undertaking all kinds of damage and condition surveys since.
After completing his studies in Naval Engineering department in Cadiz University, having obtained a BSc in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering in 2006, he immediately started his professional career as a Marine Surveyor of Comismar group, where he attained valuable knowledge and experience in all kinds of surveying work, such as H&M / P&I casualties and condition surveys, Project Cargo and MWS surveys.
Moving on in 2010, he explored a career as a commissioning engineer for Navy Ships projects and Navantia shipyard for 3 years, followed by 2 years employment as a Technical Manager of a Turbochargers supply and repair company in Cadiz.
In 2015 he established his own independent surveying firm which he maintained for 10 years under the combined role of CEO and senior surveyor for 10 years, before joining our firm in 2025.
Since joining our firm as a Senior Marine Surveyor, Jose has been undertaking a wide variety of marine casualty surveys / investigations, including major repairs of main engines and collisions, as well as Risk Assessment/Loss prevention Surveys on all types of vessels, on behalf of both H&M Underwriters and P&I Clubs, expanding his knowledge and experience on both casualty and loss prevention surveying work.
As such, he possesses an in-depth all-round knowledge of both marine surveying work and ship repairs practices/tariffs in Spain.
