Sankar joined our India office in 2026, having completed more than 17 years term as an oceangoing engineer on board oil and oil/ chemical tankers, reaching the rank of 1st Engineer.
Throughout his career as a seagoing engineer, he acquired extensive experience in marine engineering operations, maintenance and repairs of Main/Auxiliary Engines, propulsion installations and auxiliary machinery, ISM/ISPS/MLC compliance, Class and Statutory surveys, ensuring compliance with Classification Society and Statutory requirements and regulations.
Subsequently, he shifted to a career ashore, as a Classification Society Surveyor with LR since 2025, ships in service surveys – including remote, as well as potential risks and defects assessments to ensure compliance with applicable IACS Class standards and regulations.
As such, he brings expertise on marine propulsion engines and auxiliary machinery operational and maintenance aspects, as well as daily E/R operations, backed by solid academic foundation, shore-based technical management and marine surveying experience of a broad spectrum of vessels.
Since joining our firm, Sankar has been actively involved in all kinds of H&M casualty, Risk Assessment and Loss Prevention surveys, acting on behalf H&M Underwriters and P&I Clubs.

- Marine Surveyor / MPMS Specialist – Lloyd’s Register Global Digital Survey Centre – 2 years
- Oceangoing Engineer (Oil & Oil/Chemical Tankers) reaching the rank of 1st Engineer – 17 years
- Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency (STCW III/2 – MEO Class I Motor)
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Energy Management – World Maritime University, Malmö
- Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Marine Engineering – Tolani Maritime Institute, Birla Institute of Technology, Pilani
