Caner is a sea-going Navigation & Safety Officer who completed his studies in Maritime Transportation and Management Engineering in Turgut Kiran Faculty of Maritime, earning a BSc degree, from 2016 to 2021, spending an intermediate year at University of Split, Croatia.
After graduating, Caner was employed as a seagoing Navigation, Safety and Administration Officer on board CMA CGM, Fleet Management Limited and Arkas Lines container ships and bulk carriers for 3 years.
After seeking a career ashore as a Marine Surveyor, he was employed by an Istanbul based surveying firm in 2024 before joining our Istanbul office team in early 2025.
During his seagoing service, he had the opportunity to be involved and gain vast experience on vessels safety and navigation/operational aspects, subsequently earning experience as a marine surveyor on both H&M and P&I casualties as well as Risk Assessment and Condition Surveys.
With his combined experience as an ocean-going deck officer and marine surveyor, gained through handling a wide range of casualty investigations and risk assessment surveys, he has, since joining our team, been actively engaged in conducting Casualty, Warranty and Risk Assessment / Loss Prevention surveys on behalf of H&M Underwriters and P&I Clubs. In addition to his surveying responsibilities, he oversees the daily operations and survey coordination of our Istanbul office, liaising closely with underwriters, brokers and shipowners, while managing claims from initial instruction through to the submission of final reports.
