Dimitris joined the firm in 1986 as Surveyor and became Partner in 1997. During his 35-year career with Evdemon & Partners Dimitris has dealt with the most complex and high-profile cases the firm has been involved in.

Having traveled the world for 20 years, during which he attended and managed major marine casualties of all types (as a GA surveyor), jointly with his colleagues from the Salvage Association, Solicitors and Salvors, he has acquired expertise in both technical and insurance aspects of marine casualties.

He is considered an expert in major machinery failures including crankshaft renewal/repair, as well as major steel renewal projects also drafting detailed specification of repairs for inviting yard tenders around the globe.

He has undertaken numerous casualty investigations, jointly with appointed solicitors, often been invited to report or attend court hearings as an expert witness.

Dimitris’ passion for marine surveying is also reflected in his continuous effort to educate the younger generation of surveyors employed by our firm. He is in charge of the training scheme and procedures, ensuring the implementation of our firm’s high-quality standards for both reporting and surveying practices.

Since becoming a Partner in 1997 and together with Tony Evdemon (with the guidance of the London Salvage Association Principal Surveyors), he shifted the firm’s orientation to provide services exclusively for and on direct instructions by Lloyds market Leading H&M Underwriters, gaining their support and trust over the years.

As the Managing Partner of Evdemon & Partners, he is responsible for guiding the overall strategic direction of the firm. His role in the expansion of our firm’s global network of offices together with the development of direct relations with key executives of all main insurance markets and shipping communities, has been decisive to the recognition of our firm as one of the leaders in marine surveying.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MSc in Marine Engineering from the University of Newcastle
  • BSc in Mechanical/Marine Engineering from the University of Surrey
