SURVEYOR’S ROLE
Rio Office
- Attended for 3 months at Mexico.
- Drafted a detailed Repair Spec and invited tenders. Tuzla yards quotations were well below insured value. Decision was made to repair the vessel in Turkey.
- Invited quotes for vessel’s towage from Mexico to Turkey, evaluated tug suitability and prepared vessel for towage. Carried out Towage Approval Survey.
Istanbul Office
- Undertook the PROJECT MANAGEMENT for carrying out and completing permanent repairs to restore vessel as originally built.
- Jointly with yard organized repairs and necessary equipment/spare parts orders. Arranged attendance of Service Engineers.
- Approved and agreed timeline/schedule of funds payment to yard (in POA installments) directly from Re- Insurers.
- Supervised and closely monitored the repairs jointly with Class and owners/yard reps, issuing regular detailed reports to Principals / Parties concerned on progress and cost
- Achieved satisfactory completion of damage repairs and tests to Class approval.
Minimized cost to USD 12.5 Million – Overall repair time: 12 months.
Achieved an overall saving of about USD 10.0 Million on the policy.
